The Uric Acid Test Strip work with the Analysis Meter to measure the Uric Acid concentration in whole blood, plasma and serum. For professional use.
Uric acid is a product of the metabolic breakdown of purine nucleotides, and it is a normal component of urine. High blood concentrations of uric acid can lead to gout and are associated with other medical conditions including diabetes and nephropathy.
MEASUREMENT RANGE
Uric Acid (UA): 0.090mmol/L~1.200mmol/L(1.51mg/dL~20.17mg/dL)
*For uric acid,1mmol/L=16.81mg/dL.
Results below the ranges will show “Lo”, and results above the ranges will show “HI”.
PRINCIPLE
The Uric Acid Test Strip use a timed-endpoint method to measure the Uric Acid (UA) concentrations in whole blood, serum or plasma. The system monitors the change in absorbance at 620 nm at a fixed-time interval. The change in absorbance is directly proportional to the concentration of metabolite in the specimen.
In the reaction, the uric acid is oxidized to allantoin and hydrogen peroxide by uricase. Peroxidase catalyzes the reaction of hydrogen peroxide with 4-aminoantipyrine and phenol to produce a colored quinoneimine product. The change in absorbance is directly proportional to the concentration of uric acid in the specimen.
Reference values are listed in the chart below:
Desirable: Men: 0.202~0.416mmol/L(3.40~6.99mg/dL);Women:0.142~0.340mmol/L(2.39~5.72mg/dL).
Reference ranges may vary between laboratories. Every laboratory should establish its own reference range as needed.
UA levels will have big physiological fluctuations depending on food consumed or exercise.
